However, this Red Prawn are available during the durian season. Unlike most durians you know that has unquestionable green husk, Red Prawn husk appears to be more brownish instead of green. Due to its unique brownish husk color, it definitely stands out compared to the other durians. It is also in the shape of an oval with a pointy bottom and not the round ball-like shape. The thorns on the husk are also not closed up together, but instead Red Prawn’s thorn appears to be apart from one another. Even though the thorns are shorter, do not be fooled by it because it is still very sharp if you don’t handle it cautiously.
Red Prawn is also known for its flesh having a vibrant bright orange color. Sometimes, some of it can also appear to have a slight reddish color, which is where it got its Red name from. The shape of the flesh is also curved which mimics the shape of prawn, which is also where its Prawn name came from. It has a silky touch to it because the flesh is creamy and tender.
